Ballpark proposal goes awry when girlfriend goes on beer run

Chicago CubsGreg Altringer thought he had things perfectly set up at Wrigley Field by arranging for a marriage proposal on the center-field scoreboard crawl — but the plan went bad when this girlfriend missed it because she was on a beer run.

Altringer, of Great Falls, Mont., arranged with the Cubs to run the scoreboard message: “ERICA, WILLYOU MARRY ME?” The Cubs complied, but when the message ran, Erica Kresge was at the concession stands picking up a few brewskies.

Despite missing the message, all ended well for Kresge: after she returned with two beers in hand, Altringer dropped to one knee and proposed. She accepted. Yet more love at Wrigley.
