Metro to extend Nationals Park service during playoffs

Nationals Park

Thanks to sponsorship from Living Social, Metro train service to Nationals Park will be extended when the Washington Nationals host playoff games.

Because of commercials and other breaks, playoff games tend to go long. During the regular service the last train at the Navy Yard station leaves at 11:20 p.m. — a time that’s usually late enough to accommodate fan leaving the ballpark. But with the potential of late games, fans raised concerns they’d be stranded at the ballpark without train service.

Enter Living Social, a daily-deals firm in the District, which stepped in to sponsor late-night train service at the cost of $29,500 per hour. The agreement will cover train service during the playoffs.
