Wizards pay ballpark debt

Watertown WizardsAfter a little bad publicity, the owner of the Watertown Wizards (summer collegiate; Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League) paid back rent and other fees for Alex T. Duffy Fairgrounds.

City officials went public with the fact that the team owed $6,011.41 in back rent and other fees; that number isn’t really shocking, but given that previous tenants of the ballpark managed to accrue more than $42,000 in back rent, the urge to nip any shortfall in the bud was understandable. In any case, Todd Kirkey came to City Hall and paid the outstanding bill.
