United League Baseball to finish season with four teams

United League BaseballAs we suspected, the traveling McAllen Thunder won’t finish out the season for the independent United League Baseball season, leaving the circuit at four.

We already knew the Alexandria Aces would not complete the 2013 season, and to keep the league at an even number of teams for 2013 the McAllen team suspended operating as well.

Here’s how the schedule affects one team, the San Angelo Colts.

Rather than playing the Thunder Saturday, July 13 through Tuesday, July 16, San Angelo will play the Rio Grande Valley WhiteWings. After the 12-game home stand ends, the Colts will travel to Fort Worth and play three games against the Cats in two days.

After playing four games in Edinburg against the Roadrunners from Thursday, July 25 through Sunday, July 28, the Colts will play the WhiteWings, Roadrunners and Cats from Tuesday, July 30 through Saturday, August 10. San Angelo then ends the season in Fort Worth.

The United League Playoffs will feature the top two teams in a best of three-game series from Thursday, August 15 through Saturday, August 17.
