Skeeters awarded 2014 Atlantic League ASG

Sugar Land SkeetersLive today from the Fox Valley Stadium press box today, so postings will be minimal. First off: the Sugar Land Skeeters are hosting the 2014 Atlantic League All-Star Game.

“We are delighted for Sugar Land to be awarded the 2014 All-Star Game,” said Opening Day Partners President and Chief Operating Officer Jon Danos. “The quality of the venue and the incredible amount of community support undoubtedly played a role in the league’s decision this year. We look forward to holding first-class events and showcasing the highest quality minor league baseball talent at one of the finest ballparks in the country.”

Next year’s event will mark the first time in franchise history for Constellation Fieldto host an Atlantic League All-Star Game. The game itself will be just one of numerous events to take place during the All-Star Break. Dates and ticket information will be announced at a later date.

“We are excited at the opportunity to showcase Sugar Land,” said Mayor James Thompson. “Sellout crowds and minor league attendance records are proof that we’ve created something special in Constellation Field that’s the envy of the region and the jewel of the Atlantic League. We’re looking forward to hosting fans from around the league next year to experience the buzz the Skeeters have created in Sugar Land.”

“Sugar Land has become an inspiration for the Atlantic League and its efforts for Western expansion,” said Atlantic League Executive Director Joe Klein. “We know the players, coaches and fans will have an amazing experience at Constellation Field.”
