Pittsburgh PiratesNo surprise here: with a change in affiliation to the Pittsburgh Pirates, Bristol Baseball, Inc. announced that Bristol’s team in the rookie Appalachian League will officially be known as the Bristol Pirates.

“We are excited about adopting our big league club’s name as our own, especially with the success of Pittsburgh this season and the recent naming of Pittsburgh manager Clint Hurdle as National League manager of the year and outfielder Andrew McCutchen the MVP of the league,” said Mahlon Luttrell, President of Bristol Baseball, Inc. Luttrell will serve as general manager for the Bristol Pirates.

The team expects to publicly release its logo before the end of the year, and will stock team merchandise in the ballpark souvenir stand, the Treasure Chest. The team also expects to launch a new website soon.
