Salem Red Sox to mark 75 years of pro baseball in city

Salem Red SoxIt’s been 75 years since the Salem-Roanoke Friends began play on May 20, 1939, and the Salem Red Sox (High Class A; Carolina League) are marking the occasion with a promotional night.

The “Turn Back the Clock” Night promotion will feature numerous special deals and promotions. All tickets will be lowered to $5, and certain concession items, including hot dogs and popcorn, will be on sale for just $1. In addition, the Red Sox will don replica uniforms worn by the Salem-Roanoke Friends in May 1939.

After the game, many of the throwback jerseys will be auctioned off.
