ValleyCats, Astros extend player development contract

TriCity ValleyCatsAnother PDC renewal: The Tri-City ValleyCats (short season A; NY-Penn League) and the Houston Astros are extending their player development contract for another two years, through the 2016 season.

“The ValleyCats are pleased to continue our excellent relationship with the Houston Astros, which will mark our 15th and 16th years together,” said ValleyCats President Bill Gladstone. “We look forward to many more winning seasons.”

“We are extremely happy to renew our partnership with Bill Gladstone and his ownership group in Tri-City,” said Quinton McCracken, Astros Director of Player Development. “It is truly a first class operation and a dynamic environment for our players, one that is very conducive to developing Major League players both on and off the field of play.”

Since 2012, the ValleyCats have posted more wins than any Class A Short Season club by going 139-83 (.626). Over the past four seasons, Tri-City has won their league championship twice (2013, 2010), and this season captured their third consecutive Stedler Division Title.
