BayBears unveil new logos, marks

With a strong nod to the strong baseball history in the Azalea City, the Mobile BayBears unveiled their new logos and brand experience. “BayBears Classic” pays homage to the heritage of baseball in Mobile. Hank Aaron, Satchel Paige, The Bolling Brothers, Ozzie Smith, Jake Peavy - This is truly Mobile’s Pastime. In addition, The BayBears will be opening Hank Aaron’s Childhood Home as a museum Opening Day, 2010 which will continue to tell Mobile’s Baseball story. As part of the overall integrated plan, logos were created for the Museum and Stadium as well.

Ballpark Visit: Sam Lynn Ballpark, home of the Bakersfield Blaze

We continue with more ballpark profiles from the 2009 season. Today: Sam Lynn Ballpark, the home of the Bakersfield Blaze. Built facing west, Sam Lynn Ballpark used to know as the park where play was suspended for 15 minutes while the sun set over the outfield fence. Those days are gone, but the orientation still makes the WPA-era facility an interesting place to watch a game -- just check the schedule before heading out.

Hey, it's only four months until the start of the college baseball season! You can never start planning too early, we say, which is why we're posting stories on visits to Evans Diamond, the home of the Cal Golden Bears, and Nettleton Stadium, the home of the Chico State Wildcats and the GBL's Chico Outlaws.

Truth is, it's transition week here at Ballpark Digest. On one hand, we'll begin announcing the winners of the Ballpark Digest Awards Wednesday. It's also the week where we catch up on ballpark profiles from the 2009 season, including looks at Yankee Stadium, Kauffman Stadium and Frontier Field.
