Dannemiller named Rawlings Woman Executive of The Year

11/16/2009 11:37 AM

Greensboro Grasshoppers (Low Class A; Sally League) Vice President of Baseball Operations Katie Dannemiller has been chosen as the 2009 recipient of the Rawlings Woman Executive of The Year award.

The prominent award has been given out annually since 1976 to the most outstanding female executive in the nation in recognition of exceptional contributions to baseball.

"I am honored to have been considered for the Rawlings Woman Executive of The Year and so grateful for receiving the prestigious award,” said Dannemiller. “It is very exciting and satisfying to be recognized throughout all of baseball after having also been awarded the South Atlantic League Female Executive of the Year.”

During her four seasons in Greensboro, the Grasshoppers have consistently ranked in the top 25 teams in Minor League Baseball for attendance. Additionally, the Hoppers have been the proud recipients of the South Atlantic League's Club Merit Award, while snagging Minor League Baseball's prestigious Bob Freitas Award during the 2008 season.

“We are all very proud of Katie for winning this great award,” said Grasshoppers President and General Manager Donald Moore. “She is a tremendous asset to our organization and very deserving of this recognition.”

Prior to joining the Grasshoppers, Dannemiller worked in several capacities with the Cleveland Indians' minor leagues, working her way to a major league position as the executive assistant to the general manager.

“My heartfelt thanks to those who nominated me and voted for me, as well as my support network of family and friends, both inside at outside baseball. I have been extremely fortunate during my thirteen-year career in baseball and look forward to continuing to represent the industry with pride.”

The Akron, Ohio native received her Bachelor’s Degree in Business Organizational Communications and a minor in Marketing from the University of Akron.

The award will be presented to Dannemiller on December 7 at the Baseball Winter Meetings Awards Luncheon in Indianapolis, Indiana.
