Construction crews are working double shifts to ensure Goodyear Stadium, the new spring home of the Cleveland Indians (and the Cincinnati Reds in 2010), is completed in time.

It's not unusual for a ballpark to go through a crunch period before opening. And the way construction was scheduled, there's a lot of lead time between the completion date -- Jan. 22 -- and the first Indians game on Feb. 25. The current end date for construction to be completed is Feb. 20, which is cutting it close.

Still, there's the strong chance crews will be working on things right up to opening. The parking lot is still unpaved, for instance, and they're still putting down concrete within the ballpark. Also, the grass for the grassy berm hasn't been installed, and we're guessing it may be a little difficult for it to lay root before a Feb. 25 opening.
